My name is Whitney, and I am a creative soul born and raised in the Midwest, where I was exposed to diverse cultures and artistic expressions. I take pride in my roles as a mother, sister, and daughter. I find joy in the excitement of ice hockey and the allure of never wanting to know an ending.
I’m pursuing my bachelor’s in journalism and broadcasting. I aim to use my writing skills in journalism while also pursuing my other passion: art.
I am inspired by Gertrude Abercrombie, Frida Kahlo, Jackson Pollock, Milagros Pongo, and Rocío Caballero. I find folk art—especially Mexican folk art—extraordinarily beautiful, as it is typically rooted in deep spiritual meaning. In creating my art, I am particularly drawn to surrealism and abstract styles.
Since I was very young, I have been passionate about art, literature, history, and the unknown. I am drawn to the Golden Age of Hollywood, classic horror films, and the tragic lives of tortured artists. The '90s hold a special place in my heart, bringing me nostalgia and peace. I am forever intrigued by how pain and tragedy can give rise to beauty and expression for those who create.
My raw passion for writing, combined with the stroke of a paintbrush, brings me peace. This combination has led me to explore the unknown, express deep emotions, and imagine the future.
